Tottenham striker, Harry Kane on Monday surpassed former England captain, Wayne Rooney’s World Cup goal record after The Three Lions beat Tunisia 2-1 in their Group G clash.
Kane had opened scoring in the 11th minute, after pouncing on a loose ball inside the area.

Tunisia levelled through Ferjani Sassi in the first half before Kane scored a late winner in the 91st minute to give Gareth Southgate’s men their first World Cup victory.

Kane’s double means he immediately overtakes former England captain, Wayne Rooney’s tally for World Cup goals, with the former Manchester United star only managing one goal in the tournament.

Speaking after the game, Kane told BBC Sport: ‘It’s massive. I’m so proud of the lads. ‘It was tough but we played really well and could have scored a few more.

“We’ve done for a while since gaffer has been here, good togetherness. Everyone, all the staff included, will be delighted and we’ll get on that plane happy tonight.”

The win puts the Three Lions in second place in Group G, behind Belgium who hammered Panama 3-0 in the earlier game.
