Guardiola blasts Premier League over winners’ medal rule

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has lashed out at the Premier League, for refusing to give all of his record-breaking squad winners’ medals.
Youngsters Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz were not given because they are one game short of the five appearances stipulated by the Premier League.

They left empty-handed when their team-mates received their medals during Sunday’s trophy presentation at the Etihad and Guardiola says the Premier League rules are “ridiculous”.

“I didn’t know that and it looks ridiculous to me.

“If they want my medal, I will give them my medal. They are champions in my eyes, they are champions.

“They have worked from day one to the last one, training with us, being in the locker room, working. They didn’t play because of my decisions.

“They are champions. It doesn’t matter they don’t have medals.

“Maybe it’s so expensive to give three, four or five medals for the young guys, but they are all the time training with us,” Guardiola told reporters on Friday.
