Former Manchester United player, Gary Neville, has slammed Arsenal over their decision to hire former Paris Saint Germain manager, Unai Emery as Arsene Wenger’s replacement.

Neville said though Emery is a good appointment for Arsenal, the North London club’s process of finding Wenger’s successor was a mess.

The former Sevilla manager has been named as the next Gunners boss, despite Manchester City’s assistant manager, Mikel Arteta seemingly having the job wrapped up over the weekend.

Arteta was interviewed for the Arsenal role before the club performed a huge U-turn and opted for former PSG boss, Emery on Monday evening.

And while Neville feels Emery is a good coach, the former Manchester United star admitted Arsenal’s process of appointing a new manager was a “mess.”

He tweeted, “They’ve bounced all over the place on it!

“However, he’s a good appointment for Arsenal. The process is a mess.

“Anyway, the end result is a very good coach.”

Emery brings a wealth of trophies to the Emirates this summer, including a recent Ligue 1 crown from his time at PSG.

The 46-year-old also guided Sevilla to three successive Europa League trophies during his time in Spain.
