Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid: Wenger reacts to 1-1 draw, speaks on qualifying for final
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, hasbemoaned his side’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid, in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash on Thursday.
The LaLiga side played almost 80 minutes with a man down, after Sime Vrsaljko was sent off in the opening 10 minutes.
But the Gunners were only able to open scoring in the 61st minute through Alexandre Lacazette, before Antoine Griezmann levelled late in the game.
Wenger, speaking after the game at the Emirates, said the result did not match their performance and refused to blame individuals for the draw.
“We produced the performance we wanted to produce but the result is not in line with our performance. Once we were 1-0 up the task was clear for us, not to be caught on the long ball. The only chance they could have is on the long ball.
