Mastermind of New Year’s Day Massacre in Rivers State Killed in a Joint Operation by Army & SSS
The alleged mastermind of the New Year day killing in Rivers State has been killed. Prince Igwedibia also known as Don Wani, was killed on Saturday evening in a joint operation by the State Security Service and the Army, a source told the News Agency of Nigeria.
However, neither the army nor the SSS have released an official statement on the incident.
The suspect’s corpse has been taken to the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt on Sunday morning. When the The Rivers Director of SSS, Tosin Ajayi, was contacted for clarifications on the incident, he declined to give any comment as regards the operation that saw Don Wani killed and some of his cohorts injured.
About 23 people were killed on January 1, 2018 on their way back from church in Omoku, Rivers State. This came as a shock to Nigerians with the President Muhammadu Buhari ordering that those involved be identified and appropriately dealt with.
