There’s been a lockdown in major areas of Abeokuta, Ogun State, as students of
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) reportedly protested against the delay in semester examination.
The students who protested dressed in black attires holding different placards, were reportedly assaulted by policemen as they demanded an immediate action by government to have their institution reopened for normal academic activities.
The students who have been at home for 3 months on strike, said;
“We’re supposed to have written our examination on September 18 but ASUP MAPOLY used that as a negotiation tool with Ogun State Government. .
As it is today, for the past three months, we have not been able to write the examination and there is no green light if we are going to write the examination, this year”.
The disagreement between the
Ogun State Government and members of the Academic Staff Union Polytechnics (ASUP) of the
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic chapter , on relocation of the institution to Ipokia in Ogun State reportedly led to the 3 months strike.
