South-East Govs To Hold Economic Summit In Enugu

GOVERNORS of the South-East geo-political zone of the country, yesterday, said, they had concluded arrangement to hold an economic summit for the region with a view to reposition the zone for sustainable economic development.

In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the Director-General, Prof. Simon Ortuanya and Director, Media and Communication, Michael Udah, South-East Governors’ Forum, stated that the three-day summit would hold between 11th to 13th November, 2017 in Enugu.

The statement read: “The South-East Governors’ Forum, SEGF, in partnership with UK AID – Department for International Development, DFID, Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn, PERL, and South East Region Economic Development Company, SEREDEC, is organizing a South East Economic Summit, SEES 2017, with the theme: “Repositioning the South East For Rapid Economic Development.

“The chairman of the occasion is Prof. Anya .O. Anya, former chairman Nigeria Economic Summit Group, NESG, while the keynote speaker is Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa OFR, chairman, African Centre for Business Development. The former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, will be the Chief Guest of Honour.

“Speakers at this summit include Prof. Barth Nnaji, CON, NNOM, chairman/CEO, Geometric Power Limited and former Minister of Power; Dr. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, OFR, Chancellor/Founder, Geogory University, Uturu, Abia State; Dr. Uju Agomoh, Executive Director, Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action, PRAWA, Chair NU Strategy Committee and Secretary NU Business Think Home Initiative.”

“Other key participants at this summit include Eze Nwakanma, Head of Agriculture, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Mr. Alfred Okeke, Regional Director, Nigeria Investment Promotion Council and Mr. Emeka Ugwu-Oju, Founder, Nigeria Entrepreneurship Summit of Honours (NESH).”
