38-Year-Old Nicki Minaj’s Brother, Jelani Maraj Found Guilty Of Child Rape
Jelani Maraj will be incarcerated for a considerable amount of time after being found guilty of child rape on Thursday, November 9.
Newsday reports that Maraj (38), the brother of rapper Nicki Minaj, was convicted in Nassau County Court on a felony charge of predatory sexual assault on a child. The jury also convicted him of endangering the welfare of a child.
His attorney claimed the allegations were made up by the victim’s mother in an attempt to extort $25 million from Nicki
The trial lasted a month.
Maraj allegedly raped his 11-year old stepdaughter repeatedly at his Baldwin, New York home between April and November 2015 while her mother was at work.
He was immediately taken into custody after the verdict was read. State Supreme Court Justice Robert McDonald ordered him held without bail in Nassau County jail. Maraj had been free on bond.
He faces 25 years to life in prison.
