The police in Lagos state have arrested 52-year-old Delta state indigene, Paul Akpederi, for repeatedly raping his only daughter, Rose, for three years at their home in Adegbite Street, Ori-Okuta, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. According to reports, the suspect and the mother of the victim broke up and Rose had to stay with him.

He started molesting her sexually when she was 12 years old and in JJS 3. Rose had confided in one of her teachers who told her pastor who invited her father and counseled the both of them

The suspect in his bid to cover his track and continue his illicit act, changed her school. He continued to sleep with his daughter until when she got into SS2. Early this month, Rose ran into the teacher she confided in previously and while they were talking, the former teacher suspected she was still being raped by her father. She alerted an official of the Lagos state government’s Office of the Public Defender OPD who alerted the police and got Rose’s father arrested.

Initially Rose denied that her father was sleeping with her but after much interrogation, she revealed that her Dad had been having sex with her without using any protection and that he releases his semen inside her. According to her, they had sex sometime in August and September this year. She also revealed that he demanded sex from her at least three times a month. Medical examinations carried out on her showed that her hymen had been broken and that her vagina had been subjected to repeated penetration.

The suspect who initially denied the allegation, surrendered himself to the police after his daughter had revealed everything to the police.

We reached out to the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, Olarinde Famous-Cole who confirmed the incident and said the matter had been transferred to the Gender Unit of the state police command where further investigations would be carried out after which the suspect would be arraigned in court.
