Photos: Two Soldiers Sustain gunshot Injuries As Troops Destroy Oil Bunkery Site In Rivers

Two soldiers were injured during a raid on an oil bunkering site in Feropkakama camp in Rivers state on Monday, September 4th. A statement released by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations officer, Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, said troops of the 29 Battalion Tactical Headquarters, Bille in Rivers State,  encountered armed bunkerers at Feropkakama Camp, a notorious bunkering site, and engaged the oil bunkerers in a fierce gun battle.

“However, the gallant troops repelled the attack and pursued the scampering criminals deep into the creeks with many of them sustaining gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, two brave soldiers were wounded in action, one of them critically but both are responding positively to treatment at a military facility in Port Harcourt.”.

The statement added that the troops on Tuesday September 5th, conducted a follow-up operation to the camp and items discovered at the site include “14 Pump Action cartridges, four empty AK 47 magazines, eight pumping machines and several other illegal bunkering tools”.
