Customs Advertises Sale Of 2 Aircrafts And 1 Helicopter
The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has called on members of the public to bid for two of its aircraft and one helicopter..
In a published tender notice, yesterday, the Service described the two aircraft-Dornier 288-101 model, with registration 5N-AUN and 5N-AUX, as unserviceable.
Both the aircraft and the helicopter, an AS 355-F2, with registration 5N-ABP, were at parked at the NCS Hanger in Kaduna Airport, Kaduna State, it said.
The Service owned some aircraft including the Cessna CJ4 which it uses in its anti-smuggling operations across the 4,047-kilometre long Nigerian borders.
The announcement came a month after the Presidency, slammed for having many aircraft in its fleet, advertised the sale of two aircraft in the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF).
Many Nigerians said the move was intended to cut down the fleet size and cost of maintenance.
The Presidency had also donated two Augusta AW101 helicopters to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF).
When contacted, yesterday, the NCS spokesman, Wale Adeniyi, in a text message said that he was not privy to the information.
Prospective buyers of the aircraft were asked to contact the office of the deputy comptroller, procurement, at the NCS headquarters in Abuja, the notice indicated.
