A man has found himself enmeshed in much more trouble than he can handle after he was found out to have murdered his wife brutally.

A 41-year-old man (name withheld) has killed his wife in a most horrible way in their home because he suspected she was cheating on him.

The man allegedly chopped his wife up into pieces with a machete and then went out to drink at a tavern.

He then later came back home with a friend and started screaming that his wife had been killed.

According to Daily Sun SA, the man, who lived in a rented house in Khubvi outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo, South Africa, told his friend his wife must have been killed by locals as part of a ritual killing.

Cops had been called in cordoned off the area and searched for clues. They came upon the man’s bloodied clothing and the machete inside a pit toilet and the man was arrested.

Daily Sun SA reports that the owner of the couple’s home, Mmbengeni Sigovho, who asked them to look after the house, said they moved in two months ago.

“I asked them to look after the house. I knew the husband, who used to do piece jobs.

“He was a violent man. Previously he was involved with an elderly woman here and they always fought.

“They even went to the extent of getting a protection order against each other,” he said.

Mmbengeni said he was still in deep shock.

“The blood that I saw there was like a cow had been slaughtered,” he said.

According to neighbours, the Mozambican couple used to have arguments time and again. They said on several occasions the man threatened to kill the woman.

Khubvi block C chairman Ramurushe Netshishivhe said the incident had shocked the village.

“There is just too much crime. The sooner we sit down with leadership and see how we deal with this problem, the better,” he said.

Thohoyandou police spokesman Colonel Mashudu Malelo confirmed the deadly incident.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the two had argued about the wife cheating with other men.

“The man then chopped up the woman and it was because he thought she was cheating.” Malelo said. “He has been charged with murder and will appear in court today.”
