If Buhari Can’t ‘Change’ Nigeria, He Should At Least Not Spoil The Transformation That Jonathan Gave Us! – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, former aide to Goodluck Jonathan , has given a reply to the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who in a statement he released yesterday, September 15, addressed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over calls for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari , saying that the previous government led by Goodluck Jonathan, left Nigeria in a coma before he left office in 2015.

The statement by Mr. Lai Mohammed came just three days after the President, through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Shehu Garba, dismissed the 16 years leadership of the PDP as extremely wasteful and of no importance, alleging that the previous governments of Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo , Late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, left nothing as an inheritance for his government. He said:

‘I want Nigerians to realise that what this government inherited after 16 years of the PDP government was no savings, no infrastructure, no power, no rail, no road and no security.
Based on that, Buhari begged for more time to repair the damage of the past. But Remo Omokiri has somethinhg to tell Mr. Information Misister. He said:

Lai Mohammed yesterday said former President Goodluck Jonathan left Nigeria in a ‘coma’ and President Muhammadu Buhari is ‘reviving’ her. Between ₦205 that GEJ left the Naira at and ₦423 that PMB put it, which represents a ‘coma’? Between ₦8,000 per bag that rice sold under GEJ and ₦22,000 it sells today which is symptomatic of a ‘coma’? Between ₦87 per liter for petrol under GEJ and ₦145 under PMB which price signifies ‘coma’?

“Between 9.6% inflation rate that GEJ left and 16.5% (and rising fast!) where PMB has it, which one looks like a ‘coma’? Between the free, fair and credible elections of the GEJ era and the inconclusive elections under PMB which one resembles coma?

“Between the 1.9 million jobs that even Lai Mohammed admitted that GEJ created and the 4.5 million jobs that the government’s own chief statistician admits has been lost under PMB which one indicates coma? Lai Mohammed should be aware that these are serious economic issues not masquerade dressing issues! If PMB cannot ‘change’ Nigeria, he should at least not spoil the transformation that GEJ gave us!”

Although the words ‘Change’ and ‘Transformation’ seem similar, Nigerians have seen that they are entirely different. What’s your take?
