Arsenal Table £3.5m for Eaglets Captain Nwakali, Invites Osimhen
English Premier League club Arsenal have reignited their interest in Nigeria Under 17 international Kelechi Nwakali.
Jonathan Barnet’s Stellar Group has informed Diamond Academy Umuahia that the Gunners are ready to meet the central midfielder’s 3.5 million euros (N752.5m) asking price.
However, it is understood that Arsenal will only offer the Golden Eaglets star a contract should he impress during trials.
Nwakali’s bonafide intermediary, Klay Ekeocha, said that he had contacted the Londoners but there was no positive feedback from the club as at late November.
The 17 – year – old has been linked with possible moves to Chelsea, Olympiakos and Sporting Lisbon after emerging the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 Fifa Under 17 World Cup but the interest from Udinese is the most concrete.
The Italian Serie A club had earlier made a bid of 800,000 euros which was rejected but they have been told to increase their offer to €1.2 million.
Mean while Victor Osimhen, the Nigeria Under-17 starlet who scored 10 goals in 7 games to help the Super Eagles win the tournament, while also picking up the Golden Boot trophy himself.
Osimhen Spoke with footballlive.ng, Osimhen revealed that he has already received a
substantial offer from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, but remains hopeful that Arsenal will also make an official bid shortly.
“I spoke with the [Wolfsburg] coach who also made several promises and if I eventually choose to sign for them, I hope they’ll keep their word,” he said.
“But I have not decided where to go yet because Arsenal are also showing strong interests and perhaps after my visit to the club, I will have a clear view of where I want to go.
