Man On The Run After Beating Wife To Death In Enugu

A man is on the run in Enugu after beating his wife to death.
It was learnt that the beating took place on September 30, at Aku, in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The accused, Charles Oyibo, is said to have pummeled his wife, Angela, over a yet to be determined matter, leaving her unconscious.
The woman was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, but she was not able to regain full consciousness, until she died on October 22.
Charles ran away immediately after it was confirmed that his wife was dead.
Spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the development, said preliminary investigations revealed that the husband was in the habit of beating his wife.
Amaraizu said the police had started hunting for Mr. Oyibo. He said the man would be brought to book.
Domestic violence and particularly Wife Battery is a widespread, culturally entrenched practice in Nigeria, with many becoming victims to it yearly.
