Armed men invaded the country home of Sen Ayogu Eze, representing Enugu North Senatorial District in the senate in Inere Umuiyida of Enuguezike in Igboeze-North LGA with an alleged mission to harm him.
Vanguard gathered that the invading hoodlums, numbering ten, stormed the place at about 5.20 pm on Tuesday shooting sporadically into the air.
An eyewitness who identified himself as a security guard attached to the house, said: “As they were shooting, they were saying Sen Ayogu Eze has failed in court; he is now a dead man.
“I did not challenge them so that they will not kill me. They continued to shoot into the air and danced at the gate of my Oga’s house.”
It was further gathered that they fled the scene when the police were called, abandoning two vehicles, while one of them was said to have been arrested.
Mr Ikechukwu Eze, a close relation of Sen Eze, alleged that the thugs were those who were celebrating Enugu State PDP guber candidate, Mr ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s   victory on Monday at Federal High Court Abuja.
“If not for the quick intervention of police and youths from the village, the thugs would have started destroying my brother’s house and other property,”Eze said.
Eze said it was as result of that   incident that youths numbering about eighty  from the village   kept night vigil   at Sen Eze’ compound in case the hoodlums came back again.
When contacted, the Personal Assistant (PA) to  Sen Eze, Mr  IK Abugwu, confirmed the incidents, noting that Eze would soon   make official statement over the matter.
