The WWE wrestler cracked a joke about the England international’s hairline during an online exchange relating to a proposed tag-team match at Wrestlemania
Wrestling icon Stone Cold Steve Austin has told Wayne Rooney to “embrace the baldness” after the Manchester United captain suggested that they team up for a fight at Wrestlemania.
Rooney earned a controversial penalty in the final moments of United’s 3-1 win over Preston North End in the FA Cup in midweek, sending WWE Intercontinental champion Wade ‘Bad News’ Barrett – a Preston fan – into a rage.

Rooney, never one to shirk a challenge, responded, and called in the help of a WWE Hall of Famer.

With a dream match seemingly on, Barrett called in the help of Preston striker Kevin Davies – who said he would undergo a rigorous training camp in order to get himself ready for the ‘Biggest Show in Sports Entertainment’.
“You and Steve Austin vs me and Kevin Davies at Wrestlemania in 6 weeks. Get it booked Vince McMahon,” Barrett added.
Austin – a six-time WWE champion – then waded in, and jokingly told Rooney to “embrace the baldness” that endeared him to so many wrestling fans, before the two showed a glimpse of what may be to come by both tweeting ‘Stone Cold’s’ catchphrase, with Rooney writing: “And that’s the bottom line. Cause Stone Cold said so.”

Wrestlemania 31 takes place on March 29 at Levi’s Stadium in California – the same day that Preston take on Fleetwood Town, and two days after England’s clash with Lithuania.
