VP Namadi Sambo Escapes Lynch In Zazzau, Kaduna State

A crowd of residents Saturday almost attacked Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo during the 40th anniversary of Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna State.
Zaria is the hometown of the nation’s number two citizen.
The Vice President, who arrived the venue of the occasion when Durbar was about to terminate at about 2:30 met the anger of people who converged at the palace to witness the historic celebration.
As Sambo’s convoy arrived the centre of the venue, people started chanting “Bamaso – bamaso – bamaso, meaning we don’t want – we don’t want – we don’t want”.
This action created tension as security operatives tried to control the crowd using force.
But the people resisted and continued chanting the anti-Sambo slogan.
Sambo’s security then quickly escorted him into the residence of the Emir with a view to calming the situation.
Repeated warnings by security agents that all individuals should vacate the area except security men and journalists were also ineffective.
The residents who said they did not want Sambo at the event, stood their ground and gradually charged towards the palace main building.
Their main grouse could not be immediately ascertained.
It was gathered that at this point, Sambo’s details drove the VP’s vehicle right inside the Emir’s residence.
He was quickly moved out of the scene alongside Kaduna State Governor, Muktar Ramalan Yero.
The development, however, casts a doubt on Sambo’s promise to deliver two million votes to President Goodluck Jonathan in the forthcoming general elections.
