Group Petitions Military Board, INEC Over Buhari's Certificate Scandal
With barely 40 days to the 2015 general elections, a socio-political pressure group, The Leadership and Accountability Initiative has petitioned the Secretary of Nigeria Military Board and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged certificate scandal concerning the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).
The group letter signed by the Executive Coordinator, Prince Henry Shield, with the title: “Application for Information”, and obtained Sunday, demanded that the public be provided the credentials of the APC candidate as claimed in the sworn affidavit.
Shield noted that the group application was hinged on the strength of Sections 1 and 7 of the Freedom of Information Act, adding that the claims by Buhari are spurious and lack merit.
