Immediately the High Trailer was intercepted Saturday at 7:30 am, the rumour spread (wrongly) in the town like wild fire that the trailer was loaded with ballot papers allegedly thumb -printed for the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate.
As the vehicle later arrived at the police station, Government Reserved Area (GRA), the police began to off load the items and it was discovered that the vehicle was actually carrying ballot boxes.

One of the chieftains of All Progressive Congress in the state (name withheld) said they became curious because the vehicle was not an official vehicle of the Independent National Electoral Commission, yet it was carrying such sensitive election materials all the way from Lagos to Gombe state without security personnel.
He said: “We are insisting that the content of the vehicle should be off loaded in our presence and newsmen to satisfy our curiosity.”
However, the police spokesman DSP Mohammed Haruna said he would make a comment after the content of the vehicle has been fully off loaded .
