Former governor of Lagos state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reportedly spurned entreaties from Muhammad Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to submit a fresh list of nominees to be considered for the second spot on the presidential ticket.

The national leader of the APC shunned a general caucus meeting of the APC in Abuja last night because of hostility by state governors in the party towards his candidature.
In a rejoinder sent to Saharareporters earlier today, Mr. Tinubu declared his interest becoming the Vice Presidential candidate to Buhari, affirming that as a great mobilizer, he was most suited to be Buhari’s running mate. His position, however, is at variance with the position of party caucus members who have decided against fielding a Muslim/Muslim ticket.

Contrary to the wisdom of the top hierarchy of the party, Tinubu averred in his statement that religion could not be a barrier against his ambition.
SaharaReporters disclosed that party chairman John Odigie-Oyegun has submitted 10 names to Buhari for his consideration, leaving him at liberty to decide whom he wanted as his running mate following the Monday night party deadlock.

Buhari reportedly reached out to Tinubu today to nominate at least three people to be considered, but the former governor refused, claiming that he remains the most qualified candidate for the second spot on the presidential ticket.

Mr. Oyegun told the press that the party will announce a candidate by Wednesday.
