Stephen Keshi has revealed that he will lead the Super Eagles at this month’s Africa Cup of Nations double-header against Sudan despite having no contract in place.
The 52-year-old Coach has been under intense pressure recently from critics after Eagles lost their first game to Congo and had a goalless draw against South Africa.
He revealed this to BBC and said that he would like to continue his role.
“I’m still working based on the previous arrangement agreed with the Sports Minister Tamuno Danagogo.”
“I’ve not heard from the new NFF board because elections only happened on Tuesday so it is not a problem.
“My immediate focus is on the important matches against Sudan this month because it is very crucial for us to win both games.”
Keshi had led the nation to its first title in 19 years in 2013 African Cup of Nations and also took the Eagles to the last 16 in Brazil 2014.
When asked about the Eagles plan for the crucial game, he said: “I have named a squad strong enough for these games and the plan is to get the players together early enough to prepare. When you take care of business on the pitch then other things will be secondary.”
The Super Eagles had lost to Congo at home in Calabar and drew with South Africa in Cape Town and now are left in danger of missing the 2015 African Cup of nations.
