Award winning actress, Yvonne Nelson, said she is against the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge – an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head or donating money to the ALS Association.
Yvonne Nelson who was nominated by her ex-boyfriend Iyanaya took to her Instagram to state that she doesn’t support this challenge as people in Africa don’t have enough water to drink.
The photo which Nelson shared to visualize her point of view received mixed reactions from her fans, while some agreed with her, some disapproved of her stand.
Saysh*t and I’ll block you if i see it. Simple! you live in America and think Africa is America? People in my country don’t have portable water to drink and you display your ignorance on my post? No one asked you to follow or check my page…. I love my Africa!” Yvonne Nelson wrote.
The social media has been flooded with lots of celebrities getting wet with buckets of ice water.
Some Nigerian celebrities like Don Jazzy, Davido, Emanuel Adebayor, Denicia, Iyanya, Genevieve Nnaji and others have joined the challenge.
The ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) Ice Bucket Challenge is a campaign kicked off by The ALS Association to help raise money for Lou Gehrig’s Disease research.
Do you agree with the actress? Do you think the #ALSIceBucketChallenge is a necessary one in Africa?
