LOL: Meat Seller In Court For Damaging Police Van Side Glass

The police, yesterday, brought a meat seller, Rasheed Omotayo, before a Tinubu magistrate’s court for allegedly damaging the side glass of Area A Police Command patrol van.
Omotayo, 23, who resides at Idumagbo Road, off Agaram area of Lagos Island, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, malicious damage and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Ignatus Okeke, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on August 5 at about 9pm.
He said the incident happened at Ofin Carnal area, Lagos Island.
Okeke said Omotayo conspired with others to attack a team of anti-robbery policemen attached to Area A Police Command with the intention of snatching their gun.
The prosecutor stated that the defendant unlawfully and maliciously damaged the side glasses of a patrol van, Volkwagen Vanagon bus, with number plate LAGOS EQ 355 LND, valued at N80,000.
According to the prosecutor, the offences are contrary to Sections 409, 337 (1) and punishable under Sections 166 (d) (h) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
Earlier, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Yetunde Phinero granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the matter till September 9.
