A 21-year-old student who killed his father, hacked the body into bits and hit it in a bush near his family home in Ogun state has been arrested by the police.
Tolani Ajayi, a 300-level student of the Department of History and International Relations at Redeemer University, Ogun State, reportedly killed his father following an argument.
Student Pulse gathered that the late father, Charles Ajayi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, had queried Ajayi over his irreligious attitude and slapped him in the process.
Angered, the junior Ajayi attacked his father with a knife and killed him.
In a desperate attempt to conceal the crime, the suspect cut his father’s body into bits with a cutlass and packed it in a box which he dumped in a bush close to their home.
Caught In The Act
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, the suspect was arrested the same day he killed his 60-year-old father following suspicions by members of the community who saw him dumping the box.
“The policemen who noticed the ground mark created by the box as Tolani dragged it, followed this lead which led them to the strange discovery.
“They traced the ground marks made by the box to the point where the body of the SAN was dumped and thereafter traced the mark to the house of the deceased,” Adejobi said.
A Cold-Blooded Murder
The PPRO added that Olaiya did not betray any emotions when he was arrested, denying his crimes instead.
“When the police got to deceased’s house, the suspect was in a relaxed mood.
“When interrogated, the suspect earlier lied that his dad had gone on evangelism, but he eventually confessed to the crime when he was taken to the Redemption Camp Divisional headquarters,” Adejobi said.
Ajayi however later confessed to the crime, during  interrogation at the Redemption Camp Divisional Headquarters.
Because Of A Slap
Adejobi added that the suspect told the police that he killed his father because he (the deceased) slapped him during an argument over prayers.
“He stated further that problem arose when his late father confronted him for not responding to the prayer points he (the deceased) was calling which made his father to slap him,” the PPRO said.
The suspect also narrated confessed he stabbed stabbed the deceased with a knife before finishing him off with a cutlass.
“He said he went mad and went straight to the kitchen to pick up a knife to stab him and later a cutlass to cut his throat, thereby killing him.”
The late lawyer’s body has since been deposited at a morgue in Sagamu.
