22-Year-Old Female Student of Babcock Shot Dead By Drunk Guard

A female student of Babcock University, Busayo Ogunkoya, has been shot dead by a security guard during a birthday party at a hotel in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The 22-year-old was shot by a drunk guard, Azeez Ibrahim, as they celebrated at Mambilah Hotel on Saturday, 5th of July.
A source quoted by Punch confirmed that a drunk guard fired a shot that hit Ogunkoya on the neck.
Ogunsoya was rushed to a hospital where she died.
“The party was going on fine until the security man, who was holding a gun which he claimed he had seized from some robbers, mishandled the gun and fired a bullet which hit Busayo. The guard was said to be drunk,” the source said.
He added that the deceased was just a guest invited to the party by her lover.
Student Pulse gathered that policemen from the Owutu Police Division later arrested the guard who shot her, an assistant manager at the hotel as well as the victim’s boyfriend.
The tragic incident and the subsequent arrests was confirmed by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lelma Kolle who was quoted in the report.
“The girl was in the hotel and the security man opened fire on her. Nobody knows his reason for doing that.
“The police have arrested the assistant manager of the hotel, the deceased’s boyfriend and the security man,” he said.
