Keshi Voice Out His Sadness Over Abuja Blast
The Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi, who is currently in Brazil with the Nigerian team, expressed sadness at the news about explosion in Abuja shopping mall.
The dire blast occurred in the country capital shortly before the start of the Super Eagles last Group F game against Argentina in the course of 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The Eagles’ Big Boss was quoted saying by Daily Independent:
“How much of a victory is football going to give for those lives? What are these guys doing? They did it in the first game, and they now did it again. This is sad.”
It would be recalled that a deadly explosion rocked the viewing center in Damaturu, Yobe State, just before the kick off of the first Mundial game between Brazil and Mexico. According to police, 14 people were killed in that attack.
Despite the measures taken by the Nigerian authorities, including enhancement of surveillance in the viewing spots and even a ban on such centers operation in some areas, the tragedy was not prevented.
Meanwhile the Super Eagles, who lost 2-3 to Argentina, still qualified for the last 16 of the World Cup. Nigeria will play its next match against France on Monday. June 30.
