According to sources of SaharaReporters, the attackers burnt down nearly all the houses in the small town, located about 15 kilometers from the capital city of Borno State, Maiduguri. Moreover, two people have been reportedly killed, 18 wounded.
The terrorists entered the area on motorcycles. They shot sporadically in the air, scared residents and set houses on fire.
The local source, Malam Adamu Ibn, told the newsman that the terrorists could have slaughtered more residents, but local vigilantes mobilised promptly and fought back.
The attack came hours after another Boko Haram raid in the area, when the insurgents killed at least two villagers and set some houses ablaze in Ngawa Fate village, several kilometres away from Maiduguri.
The deadliest Boko Haram strike in Borno during May 2014 took place in Gamboru Ngala town, close to Nigeria-Cameroon border, during which over 300 people may have lost their lives. However, the terrorists returned to the area a couple of days later to destroy the bridge that connects the two countries.
