A farmer, Jafar Umar, and his new wife,  Rukayat, were on Tuesday arraigned in  a Kosubosu Area Court in Kwara for alleged adultery.
The duo were arraigned for adultery contrary to sections 387 and 388 of the Penal Code Law  following a complaint by one Bashiru Haruna.
Bashiru  said he married Rukayat on Jan. 5, 2013 at Kuburufu Village in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara.
The complainant said sometimes after the marriage, Rukayat took permission to travel to Shiya Village and failed to return home since then.
“ To my painful surprise, I learnt that Rukayat had remarried and had  conceived for another man bearing Jafar without seeking a divorce from me,’’ he said.
The complainant   sought the relief of the court to grant an order enabling him to claim the dowry and other expenses incurred in the marriage.
Jafar, on his part, admitted that a relationship existed between him and Rukayat, adding that she had a child for him.
Rukayat, however, denied the allegation.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Mallam Ahmed Yahaya, admitted the two accused persons to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with  a surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till April 15 for hearing
