Nigeria out of the U-17 Female World Cup

Nigeria stood absolutely no chance and were taken
apart by the Spaniards who refused to be out muscled and took the
game to the West Africans. Clinical finishing by the Europeans saw
them take advantage of reckless tackling by the Flamingoes’ Emenayo
and they were soon 1-0 up after converting their awarded spot kick
through Patri.
Try as they would Nigeria simply could not find her rhythm and by
the end of the half were down 2-0 after Nahikari’s beauty in the 58th
minute. The second half would see Nigeria come out more determined
but they still could not get things going despite a gargantuan effort by
Kanu.
It is not normally a good thing when your Goal keeper is your best
player and this again held true tonight. Okeke between the sticks for
Nigeria was absolutely brilliant and pulled off many a monster save
and was her teams MVP. However despite hurting herself in her
final effort of the game, before being substituted, it could not prevent
the final nail in the coffin, resulting in the Europeans going up by 3
again through Patri in the 78th minute.
